AC Not Cold
#17
I have the same problem and thought about the DIY can, how many cans will fill the 996?. My local air con guy says its a bad idea because when im filling the system its putting new gas onto old gas without cleaning the system out first which will have bacteria etc.
An air con charge here in the UK is around $100 in US currency whereas the refill can is hugely cheaper but i don't want to do this and it be a waste of money.
My system is cold to a degree but not chilled so i have assumed it needs gas.
Thanks
Carl

My car blows warm air. I recharged the ac but it's still warm.
Not sure if the compressor is kicking in or not. How do i check if the compressor is coming on or not. Does the compressor had a fuse?
Trying to figure it out myself without taking it in. No warrantee and I don't want to spend 5-900 on ac repairs.
Anything I should be looking for???

When the car is running look at the compressor, if you hear a click and the center of the pulley area is spinning then it is locking/cycling. If not then could be a mechanical issue or could be so low on gas that it won't cycle the compressor. If wre mine I'd try the DIY kit b4 bringing to anybody. Better to gamble with $30 or so.

Was the compressor locking up, if the freon is too low compressor won't engage and even if you have a can on it,if it doesn't engage it won't be able to draw in the gas.

I believe the compressor is working. Not sure tho. When I hit the ac button the engine has a draw on it and the idle goes down. When I turn the switch off the idle goes up.
I have to assume that's the compressor kicking in...yes?
