03 C4S white smoke and taping noise from engine on start up
started my 03 C4S this morning and got a bunch of white smoke from the exhaust and a taping noise from the engine,i shut it down and started it again in a couple of hours and its running fine,no noise from engine,the car ran perfect before this,any thoughts?

There are many things that could have happened. You certainly should not start the engine until it has been checked out by an engine specialist.
This could be a very early IMS bearing failure, but it could be so early that the engine could be saved. You must prepare for the worst and that can save you A LOT of money.
Smoke and noise are never good, period.

I had that happen once. I had just washed the car. Started it and drove into the garage. I did not drive it for a day or two and then when I did start it I got a white poof and tapping. After 5 min the tapping went away. I checked the oil levels and all was good. I chalked it up to a start and stop within 15ft and possible water in the intake area.
