Default Accidentally poked hole in driver seat....

So, I was cleaning the garage and had some scissors in my back pocket, moved the Pcar, and voila....

Needless to say, profanity ensued...

So I have a 1/4" tear in the driver's seat. How does one fix this?

I saw this website http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/repair_kit.shtml and it has Savanna Beige as a choice.

I would find someone in your area that repairs leather upholstery and pay them. We bought a light tan leather love seat that got ~1/2" tear in it. We asked in the store where we bought it, Huisraad, and they gave us the name of the outfit that they used. You can't even tell where it was.

I agree, go professional, not worth the bother to attempt a self repair with unknown results!

I called some local shops and it seems the consensus is to take out the panel and restitch a new one in. Is that generally what happens or is there another option?

That's the usual repair. Just replace the damaged panel. I checked with a shop that does high end car (and boat) upholstery and soft top repairs and this is what I was told is done.

There can be a slight mismatch from the new panel to the surrounding original ones (cloth is worse than leather), mainly due to the patina the old panel covers have acquired and the lack of patina the new panel has, but it will not be noticable and after a bit of use you won't even be able to tell.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Exact same thing happened to me on a leased Infiniti fx45. After calling around for a while (called at least 5 diff shops who referred me on and on) I finally found the 1 guy that seems to do ALL the leather repair in my neck of the woods. he stitched a new section into the panel that had a tear and it matched perfectly!

I expected it to cost much more then $150 he charged me.

I did the same thing with a screwdriver in my back pocket. Forgot it was there, sat in the car and poked a hole in the seat. Talked to a bunch of places that all recommended the same guy. He placed a patch beneath the hole and used some stuff to fix it. Almost undetectable. I'm sure you could replace the section as mentioned above as well. Good luck.

I did it too. Professional job lasted about a year. Got a repair kit at Advance. I read directions carefully and matched the shade pretty darned close. It's now been over a year and still holding. Total cost was $17 and about 30 minutes time (I read slowly).
