Key remote does not like new hard top

Key remote does not like new hard top
The moment we put my new (used) hard top on my car the remote key quit working. A new battery did not cure problem. Also, Autozone has a display tester that shows that the key is transmitting properly.
I have been searching for a couple days on & off here, 6sp, & renntech and the only thing I found that might relate is a TSB about remote range & seperating the antenae for remote from loom and cutting to 130mm which is located in A pillar.
Thought I would post here before ripping into the A pillar with a possible cure that I think is a long shot.
Anyone have a better guess before I start destruction or shell out for a new key?
