Nothing new for me to add, but I also have a C4S (2003) as my daily driver. Tire pressure is always a consideration. Actually, I had the same feeling with my C4S. Not that I want a soft ride, but I did not have a feel the bumps (rotten roads here in MN) were being dampened very much.

I went with PSS10s, and even at a stiff setting the ride is much more like I expected--firm but not jarring. About the only downside is that it is an expensive experiment if you don't like them!

How old are your tires? Bought mine - C4 with Tech Art Coil overs and it was "shocking" over bad roads. But the PO had put on the old - 2001 year tires with lots of tread left & 17" wheels - no doubt to keep the better wheels. I just replaced these with the new Conti ExtreemContact DW and the difference is remarkable. Again - -17 " tire is different than what you are using and sizing is also different in a C4S - but consider it if you have old rubber.
