auto trader.. PITA with the asses you have to weed outm But it works!.. IIRC people called right away and lowballed me. I assume these were people looking to flip and watch AT for new listings. So just hold firm, you will get your price.

Isn't THIS the ad?

There are no issues w/the clutch or any seals, there's not even a seep from anything, it's completely dry. As for the IMS bearing, as a PCA instructor and having added tens of thousands of trouble free miles to 996s, I'm of the opinion that it's over blown on the internet.

Here's a couple more pictures to tempt you:

and

I flushed the brake/clutch fluid and lines yesterday, and cleaned the insides of the wheels, etc. I am pretty OCD...

Hey thanks.I flushed the brakes/clutch with BG fluid (higher dry boiling point than ATE Super Blue, and clear fluid, doesn't stain the reservoirs ), also put in new pads. There's a B&M short shifter installed as well, otherwise it's mostly stock... Well, aside from the updated center caps w/the larger crests, the european side markers, etc. I've been taking it back to stock since I bought it, it had faux carbon fiber stick on pieces (ew!). It's a WONDERFUL car to own and drive, and everything works properly, since I'm a bit OCD... Like I got a new OEM windshield put in at the dealer.

Well, in case it was in anybody's mind, I put a clutch in it today. The clutch disc that came out was the original (dated 10/01, I guess that means my car's a late production 2002 model?), though in good shape and didn't need to be replaced yet, the release bearing was also in good shape, though of course I replaced that too -that little thing is listed for $160+, jeez that's a bit more than my M3's was, in fact the whole clutch kit is a bit more money. Anyway, even though nothing looked obviously worn or damaged, it did have 96k miles on it, and I do notice a lighter clutch pedal feel, and slightly smoother take up. So hey, couldn't hurt I guess.

Ahmet, I really like that color & I don't think you should have any trouble selling it, would be a great car especially a Newbie just gettin started. what about the color of the interior, is it considered a popular color or could it hurt the sale of it.

I think it's fantastic, I'd owned an MK1 that was almost the same combo. I also like silver and the dark charcoal-ish colors, but those seem harder to come by.
There are other cars I want to move to, honestly didn't think I'd still have it. I've turned down $24,500 like 3 days after I'd advertised it...

Here's a comparison of a new clutch disc vs. the old one (@100k miles, it was the factory clutch. Looks like it's had an easy life);

the whole clutch kit:

I had some free time so I pulled out the short shifter and lubricated everything/re-adjusted it.

Any input on why this isn't sold yet? I think the lowest price I would take is slightly lower than my asking price, but I wonder if I dropped the price any more if it'd be too low to be taken seriously. I expect a few surprises w/a car that's priced too low...

I think its where you list it that really counts... those who used auto trader or other "pay to list" sites seem to have sold.... I listed mine on here, craigslist and the local shops, pca boards with absolute POOR traffic and took almost a year to sell.

it wasnt an unpleasant year, just wished I would have sold it outright.... but it worked OK in the end
