a little more dust, but well worth the trade off.

I feel brake pads should be changed on all four corners at the same time to ensure balanced braking.
Not know how old or what make the front pads are. The extra cost of changing all four would provide better piece of mind. Also i would stick with OE brake pads until you upgrade to track pads (pagid).

Good luck

Metro PCA requires that pads are north of 50% to pass the tech. My current pads are just under 50% rear and around 70% front. I will change the rears for the next event and might even change back for the winter (depending on my motivation level )

Im going to get the OE from suncoast as they are not that much more then the "OEM" ones.

How do they determine the 50% mark? Just eyeballing it? Pads like the PFC race pads you can run them down to the end before they need replacement. I'm wouldn't be throwing out pads b/c of some arbitrary rule.

With that said, it's a good idea to educate participants about the exponential wear rate as the pads start dropping below 50% and the heat they generate.

Now Dell... don't you think we are getting ahead of the learning curve here.... First they need too crawl... before they can run

Alright, I guess

Just thought thought a little education would trump "blanket rules" based on the lowest common denominator.

it is what it is... if I want to run the metro DE event, I need the tech sheet to have a little X next to the brakes @ 50%+ line or I am SOL. Whether this is right or not... I will not fight that fight.

They also require a fire extinguisher after your 2nd event event in green. And the CVR event required a hose clamp for all 996 oil caps due to an MKI only issue... blanket rules protect the rule writer...

I agree that we have Tech forms that are based on "Blanket Rules" It would be great if the CI would spend time during the classroom meetings to cover "exponential wear rate as the pads start dropping below 50% and the heat they generate."

While not making it so technical that they fall asleep.

TAP you are tasked with this young Jedi!

Wow, I've heard of some overkill rules for DE but some of these baffle me. Similar to the long sleeve shirt requirement. Reminds me of airport security. It's the illusion of safety/security rather than a rational explanation. FE in green starting with event #3? Absurd.
