Default Stripping head lights down

Hello all,

Ive posted this on the 911uk forum and received some help there but just wondering if anyone on here has experienced the same or stripped a head light down;
"while adjusting the light beam (initially it was pointing straight down at the ground), i think i broke the up/down adjuster as when you turn it now, it does sound/feel as if it biting on something and subsequentlyone beam is now higher than the other at night.

Before i attempt it, is it possible to strip the lights down to access this part or is my crime going to be better by needing a complete 'new' shell?

If it helps, its a litronic head light from a 996.2
"

Now the following suggestion sounds like the cause;
The beam height adjusts via a plastic bevel gear the teeth shear.
The motor swings the light between 2 ultimate stops upper and lower
The motor,if not removed correctly can will snap the housing it's a slight twist and then a sharpe pull to in pop the ball joint after removing the locating screw.
You can run the motor after it is pulled but it sounds to me that the bevels are toothless
Dissection and repair is possible with a doner light but cutting the case is required.

But im just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue or performed surgery on their head light? Ideally i dont want to be buying a new casing as your looking at roughly 1k GBP for a new one

Thanks

OK -- sounds like what happened to me.

I had just wound the adjuster off the end of the thread.

So -- gently push the reflector back towards the straight ahead position whilst winding the adjuster (sorry I dont recall if it was clockwise or count... you will perhaps have to try both ways) and the thread should pick up pretty quickly -- if not try turing the orther way.

Also, I have had the lens carrier system pop out of it's joint -- it's like a little plastic arm socket -- about the size of a pea -- if you look in you will see the joint -- I recall one for each reflector then the 2nd and 3rd pivots are the adjusters L/R and Up/Down.

Hope that helps -- and is a few years ago now so treat the accuracy factor with with caution
