What year or option makes the key inserted automaticly adjust seats and mirrors?
I was taking a break watching the coast from under a shade tree at a park while waiting for a call to pick a guy up. I found myself fiddling with my seat adjustments since I wasn't happy with them. The seat had been screwing with me it seemed. While happy the seat adjusted downwards I was wondering who the heck made my seat a high chair as memories of the guy who test drove my car after installing the new and improved igniton assembly. My thought is porscche wants to make sure nothing is screwy possibly locking my wheel up while driving. The battery was disconnected for the repair and now I have even installed a new battery also. So doing the press <M> and a number sets the memory for mirrors and seat. I've even used #2 for parking next to curbs with the side mirrors tilted down.
All in all how could I be so lame not realizing right away the seat was strange. You'ld think almost seeing the entire hood all the time would be a dead give away. sheeeeezzzzzzeeee

With the car on, save the memory position you want for the key (M+1 or M+2 or 3) then within 5 seconds hit "lock doors" on the key.
Can be a reach depending on which way it's in the ignition.
The alarm red flasher up at the front center of the dash should flash to confirm it's saved (also the doors won't have locked or unlocked).
(This does seat and mirrors, including backup passenger tilt down mirror, in my '01 C4.)

It may be influenced by which year you have. From the manual for '02:
The remote control detects which key is being
used at any given time and sends this
data to the seat memory control module.
Storing seat position
1. Using the key of your choice switch on the ignition.
2. Set the seat and mirror to the positions
you require. If, when reversing, the front
passenger-side outside mirror is to be
used as a parking aid, then the reverse
gear must be engaged when storing the
seat position.
3. Hold down memory button "M" and additionally
press the button with the key icon (next to memory button).
The individual setting is now assigned to
this remote control and key icon button.
The original stored position is automatically
overwritten when a new one is entered.

I understand that some additional functions can be programed in by the Dealer Tech - MY2000 Pas Mirror tilt is an Option as well as Auto Lock Doors on Start or Auto Lock after + 10 mph drive away.
