Help me Interpret my PPI! 2004 C4
I am a soon-to-be owner (I hope) of what I think is a pretty sweet ride. Here's what the PPI said, and it would be great if I can get the collective insight of the RL crowd on this:
"Run fault codes / Alarm - 54 radio receiver faulty to aftermarket navigation. -60 central locking limit position lock not reached. Posip 3 - power supply. A/C -38 unknown DTC
RT head light - clear coated? RT headlight lens is blistered.
Repaired oil filler tube? RT tail light tabs broken.
Interior wear and tear: Paint on center console chipping, carbon fibre dash pieces cracking
Brakes have fresh pads and old rotors."
To be honest, I have no clue what the top fault codes mean. On the right headlight lens and the rear tail light, I am assuming these are pricey fixes. What's with the brakes with fresh pads and old rotors? That seems a little odd too.
Any insight from anyone on the above?

the brakes being new on old rotors is very common IMO - I just put pads on my old rotors...
headlights are $250-1000 each depending on what ones (amber/clear/lits)
Tail lights are $100-300 each (guess) why replace them if nothing is really wrong? you have to see what they are talking about to know if you can live with it.
radio alarm, has it been "upgraded" or is it stock
overall if that is all they said, it doesnt sound too bad, what are the specs on the car (age/miles/type/options)

Burning Brakes
If it's a dealer I would have them fix the pricey stuff such as the carbon fiber pieces (unless you just want to swap those out) and correct the headlight issue. I'd call who did the PPI and get a clarification as to what the broken tab on the tail light really means. The radio alarm sounds like a non OEM head unit has been installed or at least it's had work done on it - perhaps missing a ground wire. If this is a PP deal then get a price reduction based on the replacement costs if you can.
When I bought my 04 C4S a few months back the PPI missed that the CF shifter was cracked and I didn't notice it when I looked at the car before heading home. A replacement will cost me a few hundred $$$ when I'm ready to spring for it.

Three Wheelin'
Sounds like a lot of wear for what is one of the newer 996s.
It's a 4s correct?
What's the mileage?
You should have plenty of negoitating room on this IF IT IS TRULY THE CAR YOU WANT!
There are many pristine examples out there.....

If that is all that is wrong with a 6 year old Porsche you are in luck!
If the car is CPO then they should fix/replace the carbon bits. If not, their argument will be that they factored the condition of the interior in their pricing. Not that you can't use it as a bargaining point, but they won't just cave in.
And I would get an explanation of the code read outs from the shop that did the PPI. Usually they will give you the cost to repair whatever they find.
