Hey I'm 6'6" tall and I'm looking at 996's but they don't have the head roam that I need. Can the seats be modified for me head roam? Or is there any other that would give me more head room and can still take on a long trip.

There is a way to lower the seat I'm not sue how though. (Im only 6'-3") Someone will post . Another thing you can do help with leg room is to do a GT3 console delete. This gives you more space between the shifter and steering weel for your right leg.

Sorry to say, but I did a bit of testing to see how I'd fit in a 996 versus a 997. I'm 6'9" and found more room from the stock 997; however, I'm interested to hear more about the GT3 console delete.

I'm 6'4"+ and have lots of headroom in my cab c4s (with the roof up ) maybe the soft top on the cab gives more room than the roof on a coupe, that said when I put the removable hardtop there also is more than enough headroom (for me and my ego ) I'd say about 3".

In my friends c2 coupe it was impossible no matter what I did with the seat, he did not have full elec. seats though.
So perhaps a full elec. adj. seat sits a bit lower than a regular one, I put it down & back all the way and tilt the whole seat backwards then I adjust the backrest.
This gives more headroom but as a result also increases the distance to the steering wheel... just a bit more than I'd like (and my arms are pretty long).

Same for the Ferrari 360/430 although in those you have to lean back more, in the Benz SL 550 however this doesn't work because the seat automatically straightens out the back rest.

A 996/997 gives you the most room and with a cab you'll drive with the top down most of the time anyway (if it's summer car)

BTW the center console delete doesn't really work... yes you've got more leg room but your leg will always be touching against your shifter...

Good luck!

Sid.

6' 6" - 996 fits better than E46 M3 - BUT it all depends on torso length - not overall height

I'm 6'4" and have no trouble with my 996 C4S coupe. I have a friend who is 6'10" and he drives a 996 turbo cab without any trouble. I think a cab might be the way to go...

I like to ride her !!

new seats going in....3 DE's in her, drive to work almost everyday, love it.
will never regret the choice, though sometimes miss the 996. Hope to get an early 70's S someday if I am really "lucky" Saw a one owner 69' S in tangerine orange yesterday.. the owner drives the wheels off it... maybe has 200+K miles.. how cool!! little rough, but me tech said its a hoot to drive !!

The early 70's are nice but the air bites the big one for a daily driver. I tried out a cab and still need a little more head room. A 997 is great for fit but is $20,000 or more. It looks to me that the 964, 993 and 996 lost some head room from the earler cars. Is that from the seats? Or did they change the floor pan.

you'll get a few more inches with OEM EU Gt3 seats... try to ask the board if you can sit in one. But, will have a heck of a time getting in/out of it.

You might try a 997.

[edit - Oops, I see you did try a 997. Prices will come down... Anyhow, good luck!]

I'm 6'6" and have comfortable headroom in a 997 coupe.

Used to have a 964 Targa as a daily driver (Targa had more headroom than the coupe). Headroom was sufficient, barely.

997 feels distinctly more spacious inside than the 964 Targa.

Part of the answer also depends on whether you like the seat back bolt upright or angled...
