Default Reservoir cap failure?

Ive noticed a little coolant in the top on the reservoir. I'm thinking the cap is letting some get out. Running temps are normal. I ordered a new one. Was wondering if they tend to go as radiator caps do with age and wear? Mine goes on not so easily and If I hand tighten it, I see more seepage. I usually use a strap wrench to get it good and snug.

Hand tight should be fine. There were several superceded P/Ns on this cap, get the newest one and all will be fine...until the next updated one anyway.

Yup, your part # probably ends in "0" or "1", the newest end in "4". The zeros leak at will.

Thanks guys! I ordered mine from pelican. I hope it's the newer one!

Just checked my receipt and it's the newer one ending in 4! Cool!

One of the worst designed parts on these water cooled '911s' is the radiator cap (coolant cap). I have gone through 3 in 50,000 miles (4 years) of service. All have been replaced under warranty so far.
