Default Don't you hate it when...

You're driving along with the sunroof and windows open, come to a stop light and hear the most god-awful rattling and clattering sounds.

Your heart jumps as you think this must be the dreaded IMS bearing failure - but then you realize it's the radiator fan of the American Melmoth behind you hitting something in his engine compartment! (It was a Caprice Classic Wagon, actually.)

Damn hunks of junk on the road! No better excuse to accelerate briskly and make sure he's not behind me at the next light...

I get scared with every sound I hear as well...I guess that's the by product of reading all of the horror stories on Rennlist!

Yup, this happens to me regularly! Usually, there is some old truck or van behind or next to me, and as soon as I hit the gas, he does the same, and I wonder what could be wrong with my car!

Yup. Just happened to me this morning on the way into the office. A delivery truck was the 2nd car behind me and I had the sunroof open. Heard a clatter that didn't sound right so I blipped the throttle a bit to see if it was coming from my car and it sounded like the frequency increased. I had to do the same a couple of more times before I checked the rear-view mirror and saw the truck back there.

I don't normally worry about anything going wrong but any new noise is always suspect.

Certainly some irony there

took me a couple of light to realize that the awful brake squeal isn't mine the other day... was coming from a civic who insisted on driving in my drivers side blind spot...

I like it when I look in the rear view with the sunroof open and see my headliner doing the cha cha. You would think they got the aerodynamic thing figured out by now. Or 6 years ago?

Valve clicking gets me wondering if its my cars sounds reflecting off the car next to me or the other car. One car was so bad behind me when I move forward the noise lowered lowered so I thought it was a reflection of my cars noise but it was a thrashed car behind me I got further away from.

This thread points out yet another reason why Porsches should not have sunroofs!
