Default Brake pad wear question

While removing my track wheels last weekend and installing my street wheels, i like to inspect the wear on my (Pagid Yellow) brake pads, and was quite surprised to see that my rear pads are wearing out much faster than the front pads. The fronts have 50% left, and the rears have 20% left.

I was under the impression the front pads would wear much faster then the rears, what have you rennlisters encountered?

Thanks very much.

PSM will often cause that , more so if the track is bumpy.

I agree PSM will do that but normally you will see side to side wear not front to back.

Were the rears replaced at the same time as the fronts? Most 996's see front pads wear faster then the rears where the 997's have more rear bias so the rears wear faster. Also if rear cooling ducts are missing or messed up or drilled holes in the rotors are filled with brake dust, anything that makes the temperature too hot will cause the pads to wear faster. So maybe the yellow pads are generating to much heat compared to the oem pads which could be the reason your seeing premature wear.

Thanks very much for your insight on the PSM effecting the brake pad wear. Yes both front and rear pads were installed new at the same time. I have noticed that the drill holes in the rotors get filled up with brake pad residue after being on the track, but this happens in front as well. I should also mention that my rotors front and back are also suffering from many spider cracks. I was not aware of the rear brake ducts, I'm not sure i have any..
thanks again...
