Dude, I could care less what that guy thinks. Those types are people are rarely worth spending any time on. I never said the car sucks I said I was frustrated that after waiting 2 weeks the thing arrived with a dead battery. I asked for some help and I am thankful for those that provided some helpful tips to get me going.
I love the car it is fantastic that is why I BOUGHT ONE!
Took it to work this morning and the Monday morning comute was almost fun my benz was nice but just ZERO on the fun meter.

You will love the car, I'm sure of it! And you will love this forum. As you can see, there is plenty of very useful info here. Study the car well and get to know it, I'm constantly getting to know my car better.

Day ONE of owning a Porsche and frustrated already?
OK, after waiting a week I finally got my car delivered today. Of course the driver ran late but hey I kind of expected that. The good news is the car arrived OK and looks gorgeous. The bad new, the battery is dead, dead, dead. So dead it will not even hold a charge so dead they had to push it out of the covered transport truck. So driver and I look at each other like so now what? We both have NO clue what to do next since we cannot seem to open hood with switches. He and I screw around and just laugh I mean what where they thinking when they built this thing? No battery power equals no electricity and the switches to open hood are 100% electrical with no manual backup therefore here we are its getting late / dark in middle of street with NO access to the cars BATTERY to jump it!!!
So RTFM right? OK so we search for the manual and it's nowhere to be found. Want to guess where that turned up? I run home grab the "Porsche 996 The Essential Companion" (good thing I bought the book before the car) and do a quick forum search as well for the answer. We pop the fuse box plug in the jumper cables and open the hood. Charge it for about 10 - 15 mins while we shoot the **** and bam she starts right up. Sounds sweet. I drive her home park and let her sit running for 15 more minutes and guess what happens? You guessed it as soon as I turn it off? DEAD!
So day one comes to a close and I have a glorified German paper weight occupying one of my parking spaces. Now I would have just bought a battery but by the time all the BS was done it was after 9PM and no one was open and so I guess I will be swapping batteries tomorrow morning. Why make jumping a car so damn complicated? Oh yea, and now the drivers window did not go up fully and I can't close the hood or I have to go through the above BS again tomorrow.
Finally, can you guys give me the short answer what battery I need to pick-up tomorrow? I have a Sears, a Pep-Boys and an AutoZone near me. I just know they are ALL going to be clueless when it comes to this car.

No hassle
The frustration is just because you haven't been able to really DRIVE it yet! Once you do, all doubts will cease.
The battery is a standard size you can pick up at Wal-Mart, or any auto parts store. I bought mine at Wal-Mart. It's fastened in by a small clamp block at the base- unbolt it (12 or 13mm IIRC) and swap out your old battery with the new one.
