Default Porsche hood crest price

Did you guys know the 996 hood crest is more than double the price of the 997 version at least based on the quote I got at the dealership?

Turns out the 996's is much more intricate and 3D than the flatter, simpler, smoother 997 crest.

I got a chuckle of out it for some reason.

When you close your trunk, push on the hood and not the crest and you won't need to buy a new crest anytime soon.

The hood crest on the 997 cars changed midcycle. I believe they started going with the ones with a smooth clear finish on it in MY08.

The Porsche manual on the 997 indicates you should press down on
the crest in order to properly close the hood.

I would not suggest pressing down on the aluminum hood to close the trunk.

I usually just lower it than hit it dead center with the heel of my shoe until it finally closes.

I guess that's better than having a fat chick sit on the hood.
