Might have an engine problem
Had the 2000 996 out for a quick jaunt today.
After it sat in the garage, I noticed a "green" fluid dripping from the driver's side tailpipe.
Felt kinda slippery.
Car ran fine, no loss of power.
Am I about to find out if my aftermarket warranty is worth the paper it is printed on?

Coolant dripping out the tailpipe is usually a result of a slipped or cracked cylinder sleeve. This is not good. A CEL may come on and if bad enough will start flashing. Also if the crack is bad enough to cause a chunk to be broken out, seepage will turn into a gush at which point the car will lose power to that cylinder and a cloud of steam will come from the tailpipe.

Let's not panic here!!!
Most likely just leaking from cracked coolant tank, or faulty coolant cap etc......
The OP says the car is running fine after all. Look for the simple stuff first!!

dripping from......the inside, or the outside of the pipe... thats all that matters
IIRC the normal sleeve to have issues is #4 which is passenger side, the normal drivers side leak is coolant expansioon tank...
how much coolant?
check the level
get it fixed PROMPTLY... no driving around
I am on the fence of having it towed in or not... I am begining to leann more towards the towing side after what I have been seeing come thru the doors... too many times a small problem when driven causes a MUCH bigger one

Several things it could be...The cracked cylinder head failure has been the leading MOF of the summer of 2010. Don't start it again until a competent M96 tech can look at the symptoms. Check the oil for coolant and the coolant for oil intermix.

Had the same problem. Cracked coolant expansion tank. Coolant dripped down, hits the driver side tailpipe and gives the look like it is coming from the pipe which it isn't. Look up under and you will see the trail of coolant dripping down.

thanx all.
will try to answer all or most of your questions shortly.
am also going to check my aftermarket warranty policy.
iirc, it a bumper to bumper policy, so we'll see.
btw----i bought the policy thru AAA, yet taht AAA.
the producer is prizm, do not know who the underwriter is.
all i do know is that AAA's name is at the top of the paper.

i appears that the green coolant might be leaking from the yellow expansion tank.
my extended warranty, while purchased thru aaa, is backed by lyndon property insurance company, st. louis, mo.
the administrator is prizm administrative solutions, inc.
anyhow, is there an up grade for the expansion tank, superceded part or what have you?
thanx for the tips , guys

Not sure if online Porsche parts houses maintain a current database of part numbers vs. VINs or not. Local dealer gets updates from Porsche every so often.
You might call a Porsche parts department with the VIN and see what part number comes up. Compare this to the part number of the tank on the car. Then call Suncoast or a similar parts supplier and see what part number it comes up with.
Sincerely,
Macster.
