Just went out for a drive and when I pushed the window switch momentarily to do the auto-down function and it didn't work.
The window will go up and down if you hold it. Any thoughts what might have gone wrong? Is the auto-down function contained in the switch or is it part of a window controller module?
Oh BTW it is a 99 Carrera Cab.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Maybe needs to be reset... I think you hold it down all the way and then back up all the way and keep switch pressed a few seconds after that and all should be good.. Usually happens when you disconnect power..

Mine did the exact same thing last week and now it makes a crunching, scratching sound going up or down. After researching I think the regulator cable is frayed or otherwise damaged. I'm taking the door panel apart this weekend to confirm.
Thanks folks. Checked with Renntech and got the following from Loren.
Try re-training the windows.
1. Press and hold button until the window is all the way up - then hold 10 seconds.
2. Do the same to bring the windows down - again hold for 10 seconds.
3. Test the the one-push open and close.
Just tried it and it works.
WOW, what would I do without this forum. Thanks all, this worked just great!
I had disconnected my battery for about 2 weeks while I was having my alternator repaired and got the symptom above. I knew right where to come for anwers.
