Default Car Battery?

I need to pick up a new battery. I've searched and it seems people have different answers on the type of battery our cars use. Currently in my car is a size 49, not sure of the brand, I'd never heard of it before. It sounds like the forum recommends a size 48 (Duralast 48-DL) or H7 (Interstate). Should I go with the smaller (48/H7) battery assuming the store has it? The 49 in my car currently fits, but looks rather tight.

Scott,

Get the size that is already in the car. That way you don't have to mess with the adjustments. Bigger battery will give you higher amp in cold weather start and holds charge longer. Downside is that its heavier. Weight is not an issue since this is not a track car; being able to start every time is more important.

Chau - Thanks that makes sense. I didn't know if everyone recommended smaller just for weight or if it would be difficult fitting the 49 back in

don't laugh, bu check wal-mart for batteries. They are about $85 for a 3 year free replacement one.

Rennline does sell the Odyssey batteries and mounts if you do want to go for low weight.

I think I'm gonna have to use autozone. There isn't a convenient walmart, and I live in Manhattan now, so I'm stuck to a train or my car (for now, and which wont start). Going to have a friend jump it on Thurs I think since I don't want to drive it in this weather - it just got detailed

Cool

Skoot,
Be sure to reread the owners manual carefully before you jump it. There are some very specific warnings to be mindful of. Porsches don't jump as simply as other cars.

Duralast 48-DL at AutoZone. $95 installed. Fits perfectly.
