TRANSMISSION ISSUE IN 2004 4S
I have a 2004 4s.
last week, I heard a noise from the front side of the car.
I took it to 2 different services which are good at sports cars.
The first one said it's transmission and front diffrential.
The second said only diffrential.
The point is, there is no issue in changing the gears.
The noise is coming only when the car is at 2000rpm. When it's over 2000, there is no nosie at all. And the car goes as it's normal.
Both quotatioins says " Replace front diffrential" as a work to be done. And below that thay say " Change Front Axle".
I don't understand how come the first service wants to replace the Transmission where I don't see any issue in changing the gears.
Does anyone has an idea what the issue could be?
I have attached the estimate of fsecond service.
Thanks,
Ibrahim

folks, its 3.67 dirhams to one USD.
Thats $4452.
Expensive, hell yes, but i doubt the dealer will be cheaper if it really is the diff.
I'd get a second opinion, dealer or not.

The front differential and/or fluid change will not affect the feel of shifting gears.
I echo the other comments. Get it to a dealer. It sounds like either your front differential fluid may need to be changed, or the entire front differential; a few here have had cases of them burning up.
While you have it at the dealer, I would also have them replace the fluid in the transmission as well; same fluid.
Good Luck
