Just installed Fister Ds
I just finished today my installation of Fister Ds. All I can say is "WOW!" What a difference. I remember four years ago when I got this car I would grin every time I drove it. Now I grin even bigger each time I crank it!
As others have outlined, swapping out the mufflers are pretty easy. The only problem I encountered was the removal of the clamp holding the tips on the muffler. After 10 years, those clamps weren't budging, no matter how much penetrating spray I used. Had to destroy them to get them off. Then I had to wait for almost a week to get replacements since no one in my town had anything like them. But today, all is well.
This has to be the best mod, considering the price!

I had exactly the same situation. I finally used a torch to heat the nut red hot to get it off. Replaced the OEM stuff with a stainless steel bolt and washer.

I really thought I would be able to find the clamps locally. Several guys mentioned getting something at the hardware store. No dice for me. No one had anything like them available. Apparently the other German makes don't use them either.
So word of advice: if you're doing this mod, have two clamps on hand!

I was able to reuse the clamps, but the bolts and nuts were replaced with some SS I found at the hardware store. Did you get them(clamps) at your Porsche dealer?

I'm thinkin of goin this route and have sent in my inquiry to Fister D. In doing so I noticed that they offer ceramic coating to 'significantly reduce radiant heat' and I was wondering if anyone here had gone for this option ? Or even, for those that didn't, did they wish they had ?

I just sent my mufflers to them for modification. They should arrive later this week, and I should be bolting them on when I get them back in a few weeks. I can't wait. I'm thinking now that I should go ahead and order some clamps and hardware so I'll be ready...

I thought about it. I spoke to Darin Fister about it as well. In addition to dissipation, the coating will protect the mufflers and keep in mind some of these mufflers are gettting pretty old. In the end, I took a chance and didn't buy the coating. I'm saving up for ROW M030 suspension this fall.

Great mod
You get use to the sound and now I want louder! Passed the wife test easily, she drives the car and has no complaints, if you are on the fence about this mod don't be. Best yet and Darin is great to deal with. He even spoke to my local shop that was having trouble with the tip clamps. Vic
