Default Video of me chasing a 997 GT3 at Putnam Park

Here is a video I shot at a PCA DE this weekend at Putnam Park. This was my first track event ever. This video shows me chasing and then catching a 997 GT3. It was definitely my weekend highlight.

Help us out here (nice video quality by the way, except for the music)....the conclusion that you're drawing is that you're a better driver? Or is it that you had a better car?

What conclusion are you drawing about the other driver or his car?

Great Fun! Not sure if you noticed, but, the GT3 driver is the devil - take a look at his car number at the 3:14 mark.

Another 996 C2 Cab eating a 997 GT3.
It's clearly a slower car, but amazing what a skilled driver can do:

Nice vid Bobby! I have driven Putnam 4 times and it really is a great course. Looks on some corners your turn in is a little early but not bad for your first DE. To be honest though I think if the GT3 was really ballz to the wall you (nor me) wouldn't have a chance . I passed a Turbo one time and actually thought I was hot sh_t until he showed me who was boss....its fun to chase down cars but it can VERY un-nerving being the chase-ey. So when is the next DE?

Looks great! Have fun?!?

BTW, stay track left down the front straight - unless you're passing. It may confuse people (either passers or passees) in the future.

Kudos for doing your first event. Slower cars passing faster cars happens at every event; be careful not to get the mist or confuse the DE with a race. I passed much faster cars in my C4S. Its comfort level and instruction in the student groups.

This picture I love, in Green. No, I couldn't get by him in Green where we could only pass on the straights. Yes, that is a Ferrari Challenge car. Dell was having a fit.

Counter point: I was letting cars by me with less than half the HP of the GT3 at my first event, and even still at my last event on a track that I was familiar with. There was a Miata that ate my lunch in the corners while I struggled, but I could close a 5 second+ gap easily on the straight. He woudl give me the point by, but I learned just to wave it off because I knew he would be all over me again soon.

Seat time, seat time, seat time.

Have fun. Be safe!

I'm not drawing any conclusion at all. His car is obviously far, far faster and more awesome than mine and he ended up passing me a few laps later. I had a chance to talk with him over the weekend and he was very friendly.

As this was my first time on a track and I have a long way to go in terms of driving skills, I just thought it was noteworthy I was able to even keep up with him.

that's cuz you're an aggressive driver "ricky" bobby...j/k. Don't let it get the best of you tho....we'd hate to see you cause damage to you, others, or your car....

Nevertheless, good job BB.

I'm really not! I always maintain a safe following distance and I always let other people in traffic, especially in the Pcar because I think it reflects badly on all Porsche drivers when I don't as courteously as possible.

I think you did well.... and your attitude is in the right place.......

the fact that you are at a track event in your car and not out on the highway trying to act like a doofus is a testiment to how smart you are... you keep it up and you will do well !
