Video from Thunderbolt yesterday
I was at Thunderbolt with my 996 yesterday.
I love my 996 - it's just a hoot to drive! I'm pleased with the Pagid Yellow (29s) pads, they really performed well, staying consistent and providing huge amounts of stopping force for 30 minute sessions.
I got my poor PS2s up to 190 degrees F... which feels like driving on a dirt road!
A few things I've noticed post event: a) while braking, between 7 and 5 MPH, the ABS kicks in... dirty sensors, perhaps?; b) the front suspension is squeaking like an old buggy buckboard (not that I actually know what a buckboard sounds like, but it's how I imagine one would sound like!)... possibly the upper strut mounts?
If you've been to Thunderbolt and have any line suggestions for me, let's hear them. That was my first time there, so I was trying to figure it out while doing it!

Nice video/driving. These cars are a lot of fun aren't they! I miss mine...
Anyway, I instructed there for VW NA as well as NASA, I'd like to think that I have useful input, but I need a track map with turn numbers if you've got one...
Failing that, here's a video from my early 996 on GT3 coil overs -otherwise mostly stock;
Around 1:19 (my video)starts the complex of turns where our approaches are differing the most. Also, the right hander at around 44 seconds (38 in your vid) I think you can use more of the track out, and carry more speed, that I think would have the biggest impact to your time. Finally, you could generally be earlier on power, aggressively on throttle by the apex.
Turn volume down before playing!

Low 90s - super hot! In fact, my water temp gauge got almost up to the red, so I started backing off, shifting early, and generally driving 1 gear higher everywhere.
That was a bug... I actually had the camera suction-cupped to the roof, so it's actually looking over the windshield and hood. It's a neat angle that shows exactly where I am on the track.

my old computer desktop wallpaper!
How did you get the track all to yourself! haha amazing
I have noticed the same low speed ABS thing since I changed my pads, usually backing out of or pulling into driveways at very low speeds. i wonder if I did something to the sensors as well. Anyone have any maintenance info for ABS system?
