Default Spark plug tubes

Can anyone tell me a reason why not to have my machinist at work turn me some of these out of Ali?.

Possible heat or expansion etc.
or would it be a good long term fix.

Where the hell do Porsche get there plastic?
I have never worked on a vehicle with such brittle plastic parts.

They are meant to be replaced with the ignition coils.

Agreed on the brittle plastic. The electrical connectors are the ones that really **** me off.

I can't think of a good reason not to turn them out of aluminum other than the fact that it's often the o-rings that fail, not the tubes. So you may still be pulling them out and replacing o-rings even with Al tubes.

2 points noted... the stupid thing are smooth as hell inside and rough on the surface the 0'ring seals on????

cost too much to make out of aluminum - a thin walled tapered tube with o'ring grooves wont be cheap to make...
otherwise,..... NO, I dont see an issue

Ummmmm, they are cheap and easy enough to replace say every 60k. So that seems easier than making aluminum ones for me.

yep, points taken.

It just really annoys me that they perform an important task and they made them out of liquorish.

Whoever designed the seals and plastic parts on these cars?.
they got a lot to answer for.

hope they don't make condoms.

Tell me about it. After the coolant pipes of my Cayenne all cracked and leaked out all the coolant.
Our 996 oil filter housing is also plastic. The newer Porsche's have even much more plastic.

Yeah there would be some strange tool to use for the install and you could only use a condom with the proper N rating and the front of it wears out before the back of it...
