Coolant temp take a look you Phoenix guys
Its 108 degrees here is sunny Phoenix and my temp gauge was at the 3rd line of the gauge today. I did the digital readout of the coolant temp by pressing and
holding the recirculate and the top (arrow up) button on the right
side of the climate control panel for a few seconds. The left screen
will change. Use the + key below that screen until the display reads
6c. then press the center vent button once for your coolant
temperature.
After converting 110C I found out I'm running at 230F.
Is that dangerous or normal

were the fans on HIGH - I dont think its too bad. I mean its warm (ok hot) but not over hot
make sure the radiators are cleaned out (see several recent threads regarding this subject) and make sure the fans run at low speed as well as high.... the car will be OK, the tested it in severe climates!

In my '02 Boxster I passed through that area some years back and ran into 116F ambient temperature. Coolant temp ran 226F steady. Intake air temperature -- driving down the freeway -- 135F.
It was hot!
But no lights. No signs of any distress. When I got back home (KC Mo area) stopped in at Porsche dealer and spoke with service manager and gave him the details. He called and spoke with someone about my concerns and the word came back as long as no warning light steady on or flashing on the car and engine suffered no heat issues.
Was right cause I've added probably over 100K miles to the car since then and nary a problem.
Just keep that oil fresh! Fortunately for me and my car I was out on an extended road trip and bumped into the 5K mile oil change mileage. Wanted to get the oil changed in Bend OR but dealer there couldn't do it and I couldn't wait. So, I called ahead and found the Sacramento Porsche dealer could do an oil/filter service for me and then drove over to Eugene and then after I finished up there drove on further south and down and the next day had the oil changed at the Sacramento CA dealership so when I arrived in southern AZ and that hotter then H*ll heat the oil (Mobil 1 0w-40) had only about 1K miles on it. And all freeway/highway miles.
Sincerely,
Macster.

I just last week switched to Mobile 1 - 15W50. The IMS shaft in my car is notorious for making racket the first 2 or 3 seconds after the first start in the morning, I have a 1999. Since the 15W50 last week it cold starts very quiet.
The 10W40 came out not dirty but as thin as water, freaked me out.
The hot temp issue, no lights just planted right on the 3rd line, the one in between 180 and 250. Normal range for my car fully warmed up is just past the zero in 180.

Mine was running close to the 3rd line before I cleaned out the radiators. After, it hasn't been close. I am running 0w40 mobile 1. I'm sure the oil makes a difference, I'm just not sure how much of a difference. Just make sure those radiators are clean.
