Default Lock/Unlock Button Pushed In - Help

Hey can anyone tell me how to take the faceplate off, so I can re-attach the Lock/Unlock button on my 996. It somehow pushed in, not sure if clips are broken. I want to do it properly without damaging anything. Thanks!

Slide a plastic spatula under the lower part of the horseshoe. The retaining clips will come loose with some gentle prying. Keep working up to the top of the horseshoe.

Once the horseshoe is off, push the switch back into location. Reattach the horseshoe by pressing on the horseshoe at the clip points.

might need a new switch... IIRC they "pop" into the horseshoe from the back so if you are lucky the switch has a broken clip... if not lucky the horseshoe does - but you can find a replacement as lts of track rats pull those off and dont have any use for the things

good luck
as Tim stated, the horseshoe just "pulls off"

PS
do not lick your finger and stick it in that hole even though it is tempting
