Default Leaking water into cabin

I usually don't leave my car in the rain, but in the past few days its been raining like mad. My 996 has been out in the rain while I'm at work and every time I get back into it I see drips of water on the passenger floor mat. The first time it did it, I thought nothing of it. After the 2nd and 3rd time I decided to figure out where it was coming from. Apparently it looks like water/rain is coming through the cabin filter and down through the cabin fan ducting and onto the floor mat. Anyone else experience this?

I've seen it happen before but before you start to trouble-shoot the leakage get everything dry ASAP!... The immobilizer and a number of other electronics are under the driver's and passenger seat and don't like moisture at all... It can be a real headache if any of that stuff gets water damage.

Note that the drains are mirrored on the passenger side, but not shown in Tim's diagram.

ill check them out. But the water is coming from where the cabin air filter is located. also it looks like a cover of some sort is missing that is supposed to cover the filter element.

Hi r1de23:
I've got the same problem. Haven't left the car in the rain but it happens when I hand wash it. When After I'm done hosing down the windshield, I notice that the carpet is wet. Mine though is really dripping near the center hump and for me anyway, trickles down to the drivers side, by the gas pedal. I haven't had the time to chase it systematically, but will do so soon.
Let me know if you discover something.

Thanks!

to be honest, one of the only things i havent done to a car is clean the drains. do you pour a solution to clean out the gunk in the lines or what?

Use an air compressor

i know that there is clearly no drainline for the cabin filter. does anyone else have a cover or lining over the filter or is the filter just exposed to the elements as soon as you open the frunk?
