Default rear spoiler error message

I recently stepped up from a 2002 c2 cab to a 2003 996tt-with only 28k miles. Whenever to rear spoiler goes up, the warning light and error message is displayed on dash-refering to the rear spoiler. The spoiler does go up and down properly. Does anybody know about this problem and how to repair?

Anything in the owners manual on operation? Try manual raising it to to full extension and points prior to all the way up. It might be the sensor for telling the automatic raising to full up to stop raising is bad and doesn't shut the motor off or some varient of that.

Would be nice to have a durametric now wouldn't it

There are a ton of posts both here and on 6speed in the Turbo forums about this error. Check 'em out and see if they match your issue. You will either have a fluid leak or a microswitch failure.

I have a fixed wing and that light comes on and stays on for a few seconds after I start the car.

My 03 Turbo shortly after it was purchased new (I'm its second owner and bought the car a year ago with 9500 miles on it so I quoting from the warranty records that I received along with the CPO paperwork when I bought the car) was in for a spoiler problem and the problem was traced to a limit switch.

I'm not familiar enough with the car's spoiler setup to advise you on where the limit switch is but I can advise you to research into the switch possibility before doing anything else.

Oh, I might add as long as the spoiler goes up and down ok and there are no signs of fluid leaks or the thing's not making a horrendous racket when being raised and lowered.

Sincerely,

Macster.
