Default tyres for 996 carrera

HI Guys
I have put on new tyres and am very happy. Especially for what they cost.
MY 996 is a weekender only and I don't track it.

I have 18 inch original rims

I used 225 Pirelli PZero on the front
285 Pirelli PZero Rosso on the rear

Yes I know they are different tyres front to back
I did it to get more grip and an even grip level.
The fronts are slightly grippier rubber than rear but the rears are wider than the original 265 that was disigned for the car.

After a good alignment the car feels unbelevable, I have done 3000km since changing tyres.
The turn in is sensational
mid corner and exit speed is brilliant
also it is quite predictable when at the limit and gives you some warning.

There is more turn in to have but did not wan't the excessive tyre ware that would come with that and I did not wan't the car to be unstable at high speeds.

Make sure you don't run the PSI on the rear tires at 44, because the PZeros will wear out in the middle. When I got my 996 used with 4,500 miles on it I ran 44 PSI and got only 9K miles out of the rears because they wore out in the middle. I ran the second pair of rears at 39 PSI, and they lasted longer, about 12K miles..

39 PSI may give too much inside tread wear. I would keep an eye on it if you do 39 PSI.

It would depend more on the amount of negative camber. I got even wear on my car which had 1.5+/- neg camber.

The 44 PSI is recommended for a fully loaded car, including luggage and 2 to 3 people. Porsche became more specific about the "fully loaded" PSI and "normal" PSI on the 997 cars.
