Default Add-on colored crest to 4-spoke steering wheel?

Is there a safe and affordable way to add on a colored crest to a standard 4 spoke wheel with embossed (black) crest?
I just hit me for the first time today that something was lacking in the look of the wheel. I still like the 4 spoke look, but am looking for a splash of color.

They do make stick on crests, but I personally would not use one. Last thing I would want if the airbag goes off is a sharp metal projectile heading at my face! The originals are riveted on so they stay attached to the airbag.

Before I went to the three spoke wheel, I tried this with my original wheel using the crest sold by Performance Products supposedly for the purpose. I have to say that the splash of colour was nice and the crest was a well made piece, but it always looked stuck on. If you were closer to me, I'd give you the airbag with the crest for free, just so you can try out the look.

I always wanted a 3-spoke one, but $1000/set is way too much.. So I just went the stick-on thing just recently. I bought a metal hood badge for a 356, it's a black&silver crest w/ EXACT dimension as the embossed logo, cut the pin and stick it w/ 3M double tape. It does the job just fine, but as BruceP said, it still isn't the original

Does the safety aspect not scare y'all that stick on a piece of metal to an airbag that EXPLODES upon impact?

At least thoughts of Porsche will be the last thing on their mind.

The other option could be to get one of the stickers that is the right size and use that instead. If it was an exact match then it might be possible to rub it into the recesses so it looks decent.

You're right Tom, in such case than I will have Porsche logo permanently embossed on my face all the way to kingdom heaven

the regular airbag has a metal crest as well, it just contains more metal as it has rivets on the back, it will still be flying towards your head though when the airbag goes off

Actually that is incorrect. The flap does NOT leave the wheel. It splits open, folds down, and allows the airbag to do it's job. If you desire to have a metal crest explode off the airbag cover upon detonation, by my guest.

Geez, the ignorance baffles me sometimes.
