Default How to Identify Genuine MK1 GT3 Rear "Taco" Wing?

Is there any features I can look for to confirm if a MK1 GT3 Taco wing is the real deal or not?

TIA

Right off the bat the OEM is adjustable and the fakes are not. If you are looking at a car, the option code should make it clear.

Hope that helped....I'm sure someone smarter than me will have a good answer for you.

The real deal will have a Porsche part number on the underside that starts with 996... I'm guessing that the aftermarket manufacturers will not go to the trouble of "forging" the part number.

the fake usual does not have the gurney flap at the rear and may or make not have the single grill in the openings which is black plastic, not painted. The factory one will have the factory decals on the inside like the Mobil 1, the vacuum routing, there's a decal inside one of the duct openings by the fan from a manuf., It also has some text printed/molded into the inside about made in france.

1. Part number
2. Adjustable

The gurney flap is an add-on that can be purchase from the dealer and may or not be present. I'm also pretty sure the insert is actually aluminum (painted black) and not plastic. I can't quite remember.

I have found one part with all the correct part numbers but was not adjustable. It's possible somebody went through the trouble of sealing the gap prior to painting, but I wasn't willing to take the chance it was fake. It took me a long time to find a genuine part for my car...

Thanks everyone for the answers.

Regarding gurnee flap, yes those can be bought separtely and installed on the replicas.

Regarding adjustable wing, there are replica's of those.(how do I know, because I have one with the two features mentioned above)

Regarding Mobil 1 and other decals, those could've been stripped prior to repaint(either the same or different color)

Believe it or not, I have seen molds made with the same part number indentations(for other vehicles).

However, I have not seen any replicas with the single grill openings in either plastic or painted aluminum.
