After a test drive, I sent a dealer offered car to my regular mechanic, both close to home.
He fails the car, metal flakes in the oil filter after a fresh change. That cost me $100. He only charged for an oil change and filter, and told me before I sent the car over that this is the first thing he checks. It saved me thousands.
The car is back out on the lot, and it will pass the dealer PPI.
