Default climate control display fixed itself

So when I was relocating my climate control from the upper binnacle to the lower one to accomodate my AVIC double DIN head unit, I managed to ruin the temperature display somehow - I got a mess of orange splotches under the LCD. It was horrible.

It has been in the 70's in boston the past few days and I noticed today the display is ALL FIXED. I am theorizing the heat somehow fixed it...

There is an old thread somewhere with a title like

"My Car Fixed itself" that showcases some great "self repaired" items on the 996 - I searched and could not find it... might be fun to re-read some of those

I have this, too, but near the digital speedo. I'm not saying you've spiked the ball before crossing the goal line, but mine tends to clear up in warmer weather only to reappear in colder.
