Talking Performance Numbers?

I was curious does anyone know what the 0 to 60mph time is for Mk1 996 with Tiptronic tranny? Also performance numbers for the quarter mile as I know these are not drag cars but I have a feeling there so refined they feel slower than they really are.

Here is my best 0-60 time on my previous 996. It was a 99 tiptronic and I had returned it to stock, prior to selling it. The road...er track I tested it on had a slight downhill grade (less than 5%).

It seemed a tad optomistic, since Porsche claimed the 0-60 time for that car was 6.0 seconds.

Wow, 4.86 sec. not bad for a tiptronic! Mine is a 2001 so I should be around there maybe a tad slower cause of the fricking huge Alpine amp I have in the trunk ( I swear the thing weighs about 45lbs!) Did you have stock wheels also Mfletech? What size rims at the time of the run? How much of the car returned to stock? Anyone else?? this should be very interesting...

At the time of the run, I had 18 inch polished solid turbo twist wheels on the car...they weighed significantly more than the wheels pictured in your avitar. The rear tires were 285/30/18. I removed my RSS plenum, EVO CAI, Billy Boat headers and mufflers from the car, prior to the run. The car was 100% factory stock. If you are going to do a timed run, removal of your spare should more than offset the weight of the amp.

Maybe the track, (or road) had optimum traction that day Mark due to all the fresh rubber laid down.

I already removed the spare tire and grey jack that comes with it. How much does that weigh I wonder?
Did the rear seat delete too, feels quite a bit lighter now. I'm guessing I may have gained at least a tenth or so of a second off the 0-60 time. What are the manual stickshift Mk1's doing acceleration times I am comparing here. Do you guys weigh your Porsche's? Is there something out there that can calibrate the weight off your vehicle or a speed shop that does this?

Weighed my car a few years ago on a track scale. No changes since then. '99 C2 6speed. Owners manual says it weighs 2901 lbs (3009 lbs for Tiptronic). However the track scale said 3130 lbs. I attribute this to the fact that the factory publishes the weight of a dry car with no options. My car has a sunroof, A/C, stereo, power everything, 18" rims (vs 17" standard) and leather everything, most of which were options on a basic ROW car. It also had almost a full tank of gas and its spare tire when I crossed the scale.

I have a DE in two weeks, so I will weigh it again just to see.

LF 601 RF 579 LR 980 RR 970. Total 3130 lbs Without me in the car.
LF 690 RF 610 LR 1088 RR 1010 Total 3398 lbs With me in the car (I weighed a svelt 268 lbs on that date)
With me in the car, it is perfectly corner balanced at 1700 lbs even. (add the opposing corners to get that figure).

Factory published performance figures are:
Accelleration 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) 5.2 sec coupe 6.0 sec Tip (add .2 sec each for cabriolet)
Top track speed 174 mph manual coupe 171 mph Tip coupe
Fuel economy 17 mpg city (I average 22.5 in mixed driving) 25 mpg Hwy (I average about 27.5 mpg over all on long trips, but can average over 30 mpg for shorter/flat stretches of about 20-30 miles on I-95 in Florida and Georgia at speeds of around 67 mph average).

At the Gatornationals drag strip, I ran six 1/4 mile runs with most right at 14.0 sec and 101 mph. Best was a 13.92
Manual transmission and no traction control devices either mechanical or electronic other than ABS.

Mark, we are pretty close on the weight of our cars. Mine weighed 3103 lbs with the spare and a full tank of gas (no driver).

Steve, my tiptronic car had really good traction...even with the mods installed, it never broke the back tires loose in a straight line. The current car (6 speed) is another story. It has a few more mods than I had on the tiptronic car (GIAC flash, high flow cats, LWFW, plus the mods from the tip car). From a rolling start, with TC off, it will spin the tires (new Continental 295/30/18 on the lighter Kinesis wheels)all the way through first gear. Does your's do the same? I am curious if it is from the mods or because it is a 6-speed.

2000 Aerokit Tiptronic with supple leather in auto mode (manual mode was just too unresponsive to commands):

13.98 in ~40 degree weather, that's all she had in her.

It took me probably 5-6 passes before I clicked a high 13...I tried everything.

It did consistent 14.0X's all night, a bracket racers dream!

Mine is stock, I have chirped 1st and 2nd gears but not spinning unless on a gravel, sandy surface on the road. Must be your mods, however, I really don't launch my 911 from a standing start. I did drive 260mi. this am and have to say that the 3 spoke wheel you sold me is perfect, and one of the best improvements I've done.

Cory, great job on the track times. The tiptronic was great for fast launches....no smell of burnt clutch.

Steve, I'm glad you like the steering wheel. Thanks for the info on traction. I don't do standing starts anymore. I would rather this clutch lasts for a while.
