Default Cleveland?

Following my job my wife and I have just ended up in Cleveland, OH. I was just curious if anyone else lived out here and knew a good shop or a fun road, anything like that.

But I gotta say, my car was shipped up here on monday and already I'm contemplating selling it soon, the roads up here are absolutely chewed to **** by the winter so it's backbreaking driving on them.

I am right over hear in Erie PA. The roads will get better in another 30 days. They are still recovering from the winter and it was a cold one. You just have to learn to deal with it. Part of living here.

Radar detectors are a no no over there. YOU CANT EVEN HAVE ONE IN THE CAR. They will fine you and take or destroy the unit.

I'm in Cleveland, have had my '99 996 for about 9 months now. Garaged most of winter.
The roads get tolerable as they patch them up. Definitely still worth keeping your p-car.

I've heard good things about Autobahn Extremist in Rocky River, planning to get my future service there most likely.
I would recommend you join the local PCA chapter (NORPCA). They have a lot of fun events throughout the year, and are very enthusiastic.

MidOhio sports car course is about 90 minutes south of Cleveland... become a frequent visitor of that place. There is a DE at the end of April and again in October I think.

As for fun driving roads, I'm still searching for the best so I'm all ears if anyone has recommendations!

BTW I use a Valentine 1... they are legal here. I can't confirm if the police confiscate them or not however.

Welcome to town (you get used to it!)

Ha ha.

I doubt you live in actual Cleveland. If so, I feel sorry for you. What city do you live in?

The only decent road in ClevO is the Metro Parks Emerald Necklace. I've driven it a thousand times, but it still isn't that great. You have to leave Cuyahoga County to find a good road. Winter sucks, you have to wait a month or so as Kyle said. This was one of the snowiest winters in history. Freeze, thaw, freeze, repeat.

I don't know of a good shop for p-cars. When I last lived there, I was driving a '72 Impala. I'll be back to the Oh-High in a couple of weeks in time for the first day of turkey season, and I'll ask some friends if they know.

Post a pic before Tim finds out!

Ohio...round on the ends and high in the middle. I went to college in Ohio...a long time ago. By the way there are great roads in southeast Ohio.

Well I've been around for a bit, just new to Cleveland, so I'm going to squash your hopes and dreams of more pics. I just never got off my *** to become a paying member.

Whoa! Hold on!

Edit: Okay that's what was up. I logged on with some very old account or something. Weird that that worked. This is me.

Aaaanywho, I'm in Ohio City, just across the bridge from downtown Cleveland so I am really, really in the city. I like being close to work and my wife and I are both big on walking to local hang-outs, but the roads around here are just murder. I'll look into Autobahn Extremist, about to get new rubber so I want to find a reputable shop quick, thanks.

I've heard about the metro park system but I figured it was mostly bike trails and walkways, so there are real roads out there for whipping around?

We'll have to wait and see about selling the car, I just don't know if it's going to be worth it where I'm living and she's been pressuring me to get rid of it for a while. I love it to death though so again, wait and see.

More edit: I'll jump into the PCA here, I figure even if I do end up getting out of the car and switching to something more practical the most practical thing I'll end up in will be a 944.

Wait just a second here.

Three Daves, in Cleveland, with 996s, on Rennlist?

And I don't own the Speed Yellow!?! Oh, Fortuna! Your cruelty has plunged new depths!

We need Cleve Dave P-car GTG. Hey Dave, is that your Porsche? Hahahahaha.

Divot you're in trouble, you failed to mention how heavily they patrol the metro parks.

And don't feel so bad that you don't have the speed yellow, only a speed yellow would get a ticket for 46 in a 30--I mean the cop specifically told me he went for me because of the color.

I'm on the west side of Cleveland. As someone mentioned earlier, Autobahn Extremists is great shop. Another one to consider is Galati's in North Olmsted. They work on other German cars besides P-cars, but are less expensive than Extremists. Steinnels (spl?) is on the east side, Twinsburg I believe.

A Mid-Ohio DE is a must since we are so close. It's May 1-2. Also, the Grand AM cars will be at Mid-Ohio the weekend of June 18th. $30 for a Porsche tickets gets you into the Porsche coral, lap around the track, hospitality tent, paddock pass, etc. for all 3 days. http://www.midohio.com/Store/Tickets...ar-Club-Ticket

Also, Cars and Coffee meet just east of town lakeside. Can't remember the place, but it's May 1st which is in conflict with the DE at Mid Ohio. They usually take a drive after sucking down some java.

Join the PCA. There are some upcoming events such as a wine tasting at Marshall Goldman. What a better place to be while tasting wine that being around some very nice hardware.

Look out for cops on the metro parks.

PM me and I'll hook you up with one of my best friends. He does traffic cases and can probably get it reduced, maybe dismissed depending on the town.
