Here ya go.

1998 911 (993 & 996) 13,783
1999 911 28,040
2000 911 20,979
2001 911 27,275
2002 911 33,013
2003 911 29,547
2004 911 23,146
2005 911 (996 & 997) 28,608

Although a lot of people describe the 996 as 'mass produced', it's ridiculously untrue. They may have made more 996s than any previous 911 model, but it was still produced in very small numbers compared to anything other than exotic cars with 'i' at the end of their names.

If you can find a copy of "Porsche 996 The Essential Companion" published by Veloce Publishing, author: Adrian Streather, you will find a "ton" of info about our cars.

What amuses me is the way that volumes rise and fall over the life of the series, more or less parallel to the Dow. This is why the 2000 is the rarest 996

Was pretty sure the 1998 builds were sold as MY 1999s. These are just production numbers.

My old 968 was stunningly rare. Only around 12,000 total produced, with just under 5,000 that came to the US from 1992-95.

But my 996 is faster

Sorry, I haven't. There may be something in Streather's book about that, but my copy is back in the city. GL!
