Non Bumperette Rear Bumper
I found a pic of a 996 without the rear bumperettes, is this a different rear cover, or is it possible to remove them and cover somehow?

It's the ROW (rest of world) bumper, I only have the part number for the mk2 version (99650541112G2X). It requires a different inner reinforcement, although some have modified their US spec bar.

I believe you can just cut off the two bumperette mounts on the rear support and the ROW bumper cover should just install fine. I think you only need to grind off the bumperette mount rivets to remove if I remember correctly.

Bumper Cover
I know my body person deals with someone who had a few old ones around. According to him, the early 996 replacement bumper covers came without the holes. The body person had to cut the bumper cover to fit the holes. Later replacements had the cutout already there. So you may have to do some looking.
