Default 4 Rhino ramps to lift car

Have you guys ever done this? I have 2 Rhino ramps and a set of jack stands. I'm thinking of buying another set of the Rhino ramps to get the car level and safer in the air. It won't be as high as jack stands, but should do the trick. And or course you can't take of the wheels via this method.

But any brake or suspension work I typically would use the jack stand for that particular corner along with a wheel chock. I have an aviation wheel chock, so it's not going anywhere.

I don't think you'll have the ground clearance to get the ramps in front of the rear wheels...

The Rhinos are good to hold the car up alot steadier than just floor jacks; more suface contact with the tires. and

I would use them for longer term jobs. then you can lift with a hydraulic jack and replace with a floor jack as

needed. I think you can drive onto the rear ramps in reverse then jack the front and replace with ramps. GL

Why not, as long as you are up high enough to do your work, great idea.

No need to drive up. Use floor jack to lift, slide ramp under tire.

If you're jacking and lifting why wouldn't you just use jack stands? I guess I don't understand the value of the ramps if you're not driving up onto them.

Works either way I suppose. I have 2 ramps and 2 jack stands, so I need to buy a set of either to get the car up level. I won't be removing the tranny myself, but just other maintenance (oil change, tranny fluid change, plugs, etc.).

I guess I'm just thinking that if you're going to use either/or I'd go with jackstands since they offer more security, higher lifting, and the option to leave the wheels on or take them off.

I'm curious as to why you think that jackstands offer more security than having all 4 tires on ramps that can support 10,000lbs.

Fair enough. I'm not familiar with the load rating on the ramps. That sounds pretty damn secure.

They're awesome ramps - I got some for Christmas - nice and study. I hadn't thought of trying to use 4 of them though.

Aren't 996 rear tires a bit too wide for using these?

http://www.rhinoramps.com/12000.html

Use on vehicles with a MAXIMUM tire width of 9.5 inches...265 rear tires = almost 10.5 in.

If you are removing your wheels, then I agree with you. Didn't think of that.

I was going to use 4 of them to get my car in the air, but I had to take two of them back because the manufacturer put the sloped part on the wrong end of the ramps, and I couldn't drive up on them!

Pretty funny.

I've not actually had a chance to try mine out yet, but they are very well built.
