Thanks, I am really loving this car. My 13 YO son says the engine sounds like a jet turbine, and he may like it even more than I do!

I did an oil change yesterday and a general poking around the engine compartment. Like people have posted before, this has to be the easiest car ever to change oil on. The engine is nicely laid out so access is not as bad as I thought it would be. Although the plugs look tricky to get at. Probably a lot easier on a lift .

I was a little disappointed with the oil fill tube. It's a plastic accordian thing that doesn't look too sturdy. But I haven't heard of people replacing them. Hopefully it's sturdier than it looks.

Todays project will be to build a hard top hoist. I have a design in mind using unistrut and straps from ratchet tie downs that I think will work pretty well. I'll post some pic's when I am done.

Nice! You'll love the Cab, especially coming from a Boxster.

My wife bought a Boxster in '01, which I'd always find an excuse to drive. Anyway, she insisted I get my own, so I looked for 15 months, and found the perfect (to me) 996 Cab. That was 7 years ago, and I'm still as pleased as the day I bought it! The Boxster is fun, but the 996 has more of it all to love.

.

there are a few more plastic parts that you might find disappointing or at least concerning

learn to remove the mufflers (20 minute job, the second time!) and you gain a huge amount of space - 3 nuts/side and one clamp, I bet I am down to 10 minutes to remove them.... err.... WAS down to....

DHarn is right on the coolant, a complete flush is the only way to go....simple but not easy. - my indy said leave it till something like the water pump goes is why I said dont do it....its your call

Well, I see you won't be worrying about coolant anymore! Nice '86. I was looking at an '82 until I saw it didn't have any more power than my GTV6
