Default Clutch Fork Question

I'm replacing the clutch on my 2000 996 and wanted to upgrade to the new updated clutch fork which is supposed to be part 996-116-712-04. I ordered the
part and received the one shown in the picture. Compared to the one on the car, it looks quite different in the pivot point area and the new one doesn't have the contact points for the pivot piece. I'd like to know from anyone who's updated the fork if I've got the right part. Does the new fork only make contact on the ball socket?

You have to replace the pivot pin also.

According to the TSB you need:
996 116 712 04 Release lever (modified)

996 116 741 00 Retaining spring (clip)
996 116 743 00 Sealing ring
999 917 788 00 Optimol MPO (enough to many vehicles)

Thanks Loren,
Those are the parts that I ordered. I don't have a copy of the TSB, does it say wether the plastic pivot piece (intermediate piece 012-141-751 A) is no longer used? On my car, the lower end of the fork pushes against that and the ball journal. So if the pivot piece is not used on the updated version it just pushes against the ball journal?

Thread resurrection, can I get an answer on this? I think I may have been hung out to dry by my Pelican Parts "kit," which included a fork like the one on the right and a new pivot pin, but also the plastic pivot piece, which I'm now seeing is probably not supposed to be used with the clutch fork I received.

Can anyone direct me to the TSB?

Just finished putting the clutch in mine... yes, for some reason the pelican parts kit includes the plastic part that is not needed with the newer style clutch arm... was only $2 so not worth returning, I just trashed it.

Question

I'm working on this today and have a question for a 2000 C2. Is the retaining clip needed (part 9P1.141.164 attached)? I don't think so, given the longer pivot pin (Rauch & Spiegel) and NOT using the plastic piece. Can someone verify? Thanks!

You need the clip. You're missing the black rubber "washer" between clip and the fork in your pic.

Thanks Duncan! I checked the box of parts again and there it was! Follow-up question. How secure against the fork should the clip be? It's not "snapping" into place. Should I cut off the clip ends circled in red, in the photo below? The thickness of the fork doesn't allow the clip to full snap in. I'm a bit worried the clip could work free.

sealing ring

clip not "snapping" in

fork thickness, compare with clip end

cut ends to accommodate fork thickness?

I know how you feel about that clip being loose. It could have been designed better. I just left it like that but if you find a way to make it more secured, I don't see why you shouldn't do it.

It's not pretty, but definitely more secure. The first few attempts I burned through the clip ends which left me with just a bit left over to tack. Now waiting on Amazon to deliver white lithium grease, and I'll get this buttoned up.
