Default Upper Center Dash Console Removal..Tips??

Can anyone give me a quick DIY on how to remove this piece? Its the "U" Shape piece on that has the vents and the three circle holes down the sides.

Does it just pull out in 8.53 seconds like the CD holder?

The replacement ones I have seen come with clips.. thanks

I did this earlier in the week to replace the intermittent wiper control.

Start at the bottom corner (I started at the bottom left)
Carefully lift the corner and insert a plastic spatula underneath.
Slowly move the spatula up the edge until you hit increased resistance, then use it as a lever to push the horseshoe out.

On my '99 the horeshoe is actually multiple pieces, so only the left part of the horseshoe came out.

It's really easy - takes only a few seconds.

What Wayne said ^ above. It takes about 56.63 seconds!

Oh, and you must be slow with the cubby swap. The "official" time 8.42 seconds.

Yup, I used Tim's guidance and as usual he was spot on - came off like a dream.

OK the console came out easy , then the thing bit me when pushing the buttons through, damn plastic is sharp!!

Having trouble with the circular DC popping out- I ended up unplugging it but its still the housing is still sitting in the piece. The other circular windshield thing popped through forward, I'm not sure if I clip is holding this in or not?

I know it has to pop out somehow because of the pics I've seen when the piece is out..thanks

DC? If it's like the wipe speed control you need to squeeze the two finger holds together and push out the front of the face piece.
