Oh yes.

I dread to think of the things I've been exposed to - hoods were not as good in the past as they are now.

Forget the tetrachorlride. Use tetrahydracanabinol vigorously with windows shut and no snacks in the car. I bet the stains disappear!

I'll take the challenge!

-Used to stick my head in a big bag of powdered asbestos to use it as a filler for epoxy
-used to lap HgCdTe by hand with nitrile gloves which easily broke through
-Used enough HNO3 and H2SO4 that most of my clothes had to be thrown away due to burn holes
-Used to spin photoresist and BARC with no fume hood
-Used TCE a lot
-Used to clean milling machines with rags and kerosene (actually varnoline, whatever that is)
-used to dunk my hands in about 20 gallons of HF (with one pair of gloves) to clean large heavy synchrotron parts- no face shield, no chemical smock (too young to say no).

Ouch! beats me hands down with my run-ins with DCM, styrene, hydrazine, hexane, etc.

My lab in grad school specialized in sulfur and selenium compounds. One of our post-docs used to brag that he worked with some of the most toxic compounds in existence (he was a douche). He died of cancer at 32.

We really were dumb when we were younger and invincible.

True, if we were not nerds, then we would own Ferraris.

I'm in the process of reading this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Porsche-Road-Z...8504334&sr=1-1

...great book. I always knew that Porsche and VW were always joined at the hip, but never realized prior to reading how much we were linked into Mercedes and Audi also. Well worth a read if you've not seen it before.
