Don't want to offend, but, what EXACTLY is original - is it your definition? You want an original US version, or, an original European version? Euro versions came standard w/ the smoked sidemarkers - came from the "factory" that way. What is standard ride height, Euro or American? The car is made in Europe, so, maybe the purist would more likely appreciate that.

By the way, the smoke colored sidemarker is now standard (or original if you will) on the 2010's.

In the context of my previous post, my reference to the term "original" is the fitment and specification of the car as delivered to the USA from the Porsche factory. Naturally, the fitment and specification of new cars in other countries may vary, but my frame of reference is this country.

No offense taken, by the way.

I am all for the ambers, I think I started this by saying am I the only one that likes the ambers and then a day later switched them out to smokes. That bieng said, the both look great, but since my car is almost 10 years old, I think the smokes actually make it look newer in a way. And I like fooling regular people into thinking my car is spanking new. But I also love making my cars how they are OEM from the country of origin, so smokes it is! Sorry amber guys... I guess I'm a Benedict Arnold. Haha

Amber will be back in style one of these decades!

I'll be ahead with my ambered 996 as the mad rush begins to dump the cheesy grey sides that all the sheeple mindlessly replaced because they were told to do so and going back for the classic, bold German look!

Or if nothing else, the savings, compounded, will pay for my eventual 998.1 floor mats!

Well, I was a fan of keeping things factory correct but I caved. I'm glad I did.

Yesterday I removed the headlights, installed chrome covered amber bulbs in them for the turn signals, installed the smoked side markers with chrome coated bulbs, and removed the bumper to clean all the crap out of my radiators/condensors. Then I installed a new strut for the engine lid(tired of getting hit in the head).

All in all a good day and the car looks fantastic. I did all of this in a light drizzle outside. Come on sunshine!!

Uhmmm...... I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I might incinerate myself! Or in legal terms, I plead the 5th commandment!

I am betting that the amber guys used to own hondas, 1990 thru 2000something hondas, as the Japanese domestic market had lots of amber color for side markers...

I used to own a 2001 Prelude and I never touched the markers. I don't even recall what color they were.

I got mine from Hoen. http://www.hoen-usa.com/city.htm
They seem to work well. No affiliation.
