Side Window Adjustment
Hi. I have a 99 Carrera Cab and I'm wondering if there is a way to adjust the travel of the side windows. I have my hardtop installed for the winter and when the car flexes a bit (bumps, etc.) I get a scraping noise at the top of the window (towards the rear of the glass) where it goes into the channel of the hardtop. I stuck my finger up into the channel and can feel what seems to be a fastener head. My theory is that the top of the glass is rubbing against this when the car is being driven. What I'd like to do is adjust the window down a bit so it still seals in the channel but doesn't rub against the fasteners. Has anyone else had this problem? If so is this a big deal to do? Any assistance would be appreciated.

There are four rubber caps on the bottom of the door. Two of them cover the bolts for the window regulator, and two are for the adjustment screws. You have to have the window almost all the way down to reach the adjustment screws - they are attached to the regulator, so when the window is up, they go up as well. It is for making small adjustments to the front and back of the window. I used a small socket on a long wrench - sorry I don't remember exactly what size it was.

Just finished the adjustment and it works great - no more scraping/rattling over bumps. For others in the future - you need a 5mm socket to make the adjustment. Also it is kind of counter-intuitive as you need to turn the adjuster clockwise to lower the window. Thanks Dennis for your assistance.

OK. First you have to lie down on your back . . .
The holes are on the bottom of the door under small rectangular (1" X 1.5") plastic covers. Just pull the covers off with a small screw driver and viola!
