Hershey Porsche Only Swap Meet
#2
I just caught the bug with my 996, and now want to replace the orange tail light, head light, four-spoke steering wheel, black fauce gauges, etc. It's like the car was made to make me want to mess with it!
These parts aren't cheap, so I've been eyeing this swap meet. Is it worth going to?

I believe it's going to be held on April 24th. I've heard about the Hershey swap for years and I've always wanted to go.......but never made it. It used to be super big, but I'm not sure how the turnouts have been in the later years. Maybe someone who has been consistently going will chime in here?

The weather was great last year and i think there were over 1000 porsches in attendance. I think one carrera gt made it sometime after lunch. It was broadcast over the pa system.
It's nice that the wifey likes these cars and she enjoys going to the swap meet. And just like the gaspasser said, it is mainly older parts and a decent selection on rims.
There are some great deals to be had if you are looking to buy a car. A woman had a seal grey or arctic grey 2001 996 w/o any scratches /dings/dents with say 40k miles and i think she sold it for about 24k.
If you have an itchy finger, you will find something to scratch.

I have made the trip up from NC twice in the past 8 years. Great fun. As good a collection of Porsches on display in the parking lot and sales lot that you will see outside of the big SoCal swap meet.
The swap meet itself is somewhat hit and miss. Lots of neat bits for older cars, and somewhat less for newer. But that is no reason not to go. Also fun with wife/girlfriend if you make it a weekend and cruise the Amish country.
One caution: Bring your umbrella.
