Default Resale Value For '03 OEM Radio+1CD, Trade-up Suggestions

I would like to trade up to something that will play MP3 CD's/something with an AUX jack or a built in hard drive/MP3 Player, etc how much is this worth?
What are your suggestions?

I saw something very much nice in a Youtube video.

What year is your car? I think the CDR23 is the MOST bus and just swapping the head unit is not possible, you cant reuse the existing amp.
Do a search on "MOST" and you will get all kinds of info, this is for 2003 and newer.

Not only that, but OEM head units generally have crap resale value. But for kicks you may want to check a used parts site like www.dcauto.com and see what they list one for.

Only the MOST ones, since everyone who can use one already has one to start with, often to their regret. I think the <2003 versions are still worth something, since 964/993 guys occasionally want the stock upgrade.

Yup, in a word, you're screwed. As am I with the same radio and BOSE system with the fiber optic bus in my 2003 Targa. You're not totally screwed, I should say, if you're willing to spend a few bucks and replace your head unit and your amplifier, plus pay for a few extra hours of labor because the wiring is a bit complicated to replace the existing fiber optics with standard stuff to run your new head unit to your new amp. As to selling your CDR-23, only someone with an '03 or later car with the fiber optic bus that wants a mediocre stock head unit that can't connect an ipod or any aux device - there's probably someone out there - would want or could use one. It just not compatible with 99.8% of the car stereos out there.

I gave up trying to find an inexpensive (read: less than $400) solution for ipod integration without replacing the head unit. I'm going to replace the two dashboard speakers tomorrow with Focal Polyglass's to improve the sound and maybe try an FM modulator to get use my ipod. My local shop quoted me 3 hours of labor to wire around the existing fiber system if I wanted a new head unit.

Good luck and if you have better luck than I did let us know!

The CDR23 radios usually sell for $100 or less on eBay. There is a fellow in England, and one in Germany who have figured out how to modify these radios to bypass the MOST system, and allow them to function with hard wiring harnesses (like the CDR-220's). Their modified radios still use the fiber optic system for a CD changer, however.

Thanx guys -- I guess I will look for an OEM cd changer and try my chances with that.

OP... if you do end up upgrading your whole system I'd be a player for your old amp.
