Default Headlight Refinishing completed

Tools used:

1500 grit wet sandpaper, Maguire's PlastiX, Porter Cable Random orbital doo daa.

I had some kind of buildup and sand blasting for 7 years of track, road grime, polish/wax, etc. on the headlamp. For some reason, the passenger headlamp took the most of it (maybe I was passing lots of people in the left lane).

Removal of headlamp is awesome. Little key, turn 90°, and voila. The whole unit slides out like a hot swapple hard drive.

Took the sandpaper to it (obviously wetting the parts down), then did the polish, went back to the sandpaper after making sure I wasn't destroying the light. Instead of a foam pad, I used microfiber ones. Took the polish to it again and i'll be damn. It actually worked.

Yay!

+1 Amazing difference!

My headlights have also yellowed a bit, wondering if the same kind of treatment would restore them as well? Would be worth the effort if the results are like yours.

nice, yes... i just had our e430 and s500's headlights polished at $40 a pair. Big difference.
My C4S and X5 doesn't have that issue because I put the clearbra on their lights.

I think after you polish, a good investment is the clear-bra on the headlights.

I think had I used a foam pad, it would have gone quicker? THe use of microfiber kind of lessened the abrasiveness. Also, 2 hours is including removal and reinstallation. I was just guessing, really.
