Default Fun new plate. Anyone running Euro and States plates?

A friend just got me a plate shipped in from Hamburg. Looks good, but in CA you have to run a front plate to be legal. I already have a yellow Porsche, so I don't need another reason for a cop to pull me over.

I was wondering how to put the CA plate under this one without it looking retarded. That might not be possible. Maybe I'll just run this one and hope for no fuzz action. But I guess a fix-it ticket is worst they can do, right?

Any thoughts?

What's the reasoning behind running Euro plates in the USA? Just to be diff? Kind of like the Honda guys running Japanese plates?

Used to live in Munich so I actually put my german plates on my BMW and Merc before the Porsche.
Never got a ticket once - but got tired of the yearly hassle during inspection time so I got rid of them.

Now I look at german plates on the front and all the tricked out golf/jettas have them with the neon lights and I cringe, so I decided against it on the Porsche.

Yeah, just to be a little different.
I'm sort of in the same camp as you two, thinking that alternate plates are kind of yuppy, trendy, boy-speed-racer, look-at-me. So I might ditch it. We'll see.

Although, I do feel that a German plate on a Porsche that was built in Germany is a little better (cooler?) than a Japanese plate on a lowered coffee-can-exhaust Civic that was built in the U.S.

Nice plate, fty! NURBRGRNG

Yeah, I'm mixed about it. I think it can indicate two ways: that you're really into your stuff, or, a super poser.

+1 on the neon. That's total garbage IMHO.

I had this plate on the front of my 964 for five years without any hassles. The front bumper of the 964 has a recess for Euro plates, and the US-shaped plates don't fit it nicely. At the time, Euro plates were not common, even on ricers! HAMBISA is my legal registration, but now I have no front plate plate on my 996 because it looks so much better that way. I have had one fix-it ticket for no plate on the 996.

I thought Civics were still built in Japan?

I don't know, I've seen the Japanese plates on cars far more expensive than our 996s like... Nissan GTR.

I actually love/respect Japanese automotive engineering as much as those from Germany. Italy? Debatable. Volume is too low.

You could be right about the Civics being made in Japan still, but I thought I heard otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I have more than a little respect for Japanese engineering, and actually for the Japanese as a whole. I have a Japanese "brother" who's been like family to me for 30 years now, even though he lives in Tokyo, and I in the US. He swipped me a Japanese plate that I've had for about 20 years now, on my wall. Attached is a pict of it's new home in my office at work. Can you find it?! (I thought about putting it on the T100! Lol!)

And as to the GTR, holy crap that's an impressive car, Japanese plate or not!!

This is interesting as I have been going back and forth on if I was going to even put a front plate on my P-Car? I recently bought a Euro plate making machine. I got it from a Land Rover Shop. At first I was going to make a plate for my Land Rover, I also have a Euro Plate on my BMW, that one I got at an Estate Sale and it is a plate from Ireland. (First name is Shawn, didn't have a choice in the spelling.)

I haven't put a Plate on my Landy yet because I haven't come up with one I like. But my idea was after making my plate to hit some of the local car shows and sell Custom front plates. (In Mi, you only need a back plate. And I am guessing that there are others that like the idea of a nice euro car with a Euro plate up front.)

I kind of see it as adding a different twist to the car, 1- Meaning that it makes the ride a little different, 2 - it shows people that I am really into my Cars. 3 - I remember when I was a kid and I saw an Audi Quattro that had Euro plates on the front and I thought it looked pretty cool.

So for me it is just about showing my pride in my choice of rides, as I have pretty much always drove European cars. But, I don't see myself getting the neon lights......

It is the white plate left of the Hot Rod picutre. Has 2 Japanese, actually Chinese symbols, the second one means Horse, can't see the first one clearly.
