19" Carrera Sport (Knockoffs)
Anybody have any experience with these rims from Wheels and Caps?
http://www.wheelsandcaps.com/special...258U#ALY99258U
Just got a major tear in the rear sidewall of my RE050A PP's on the stock 18s and was thinking of going 19. Fronts 8.5/Rear 11.5, going to mount 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 on stock suspension narrowbody. Offsets 55/67, it's been done before apparently on NB996s.
Flame away for going for cheapo knockoffs. I was just curious if these were a horrorshow - one Porsche wheel fitment specialist who I talked to said he heard of issues regarding how the rim was not bored out properly, or something of this nature, leading to vibration. Can anybody confirm or deny this report or have personal experience with these (fake) rims?

Have you looked at chopping and fabrication in the wheel wells? 11-12 aren't supposed to fit the rear. Turn your car over to a qualified performance shop and they might have you in and out in a day. I'd ask for regalvinizing cut areas if needed.
Don't buy till you have all the facts.

my guess is there are probably OK - that said we have the "should I buy cheap parts" debate everyday and we always say NO - but some people still buy them and they work fine I guess....
not every Porsche owner is a Rennlist member so I suppose many more are putting starnger things on thier cars too...
I think you know the answer, but want something other than what you good sense is telling you

Well.... BMW ethusiasts have nothing but good things to say about WAC, so their rep is good. If you were gonna buy knock off, get it from them..... Im sure they will be heavy though.

Thanks for the replies and input. I guess no one here on RL has direct experience with these rims.
Otherwise, was thinking of the Victor Zehn's in 19 vs the knockoff 19 SportDesigns from WheelDynamics. Both would be painted black, likely gloss or satin on an arctic silver 996. Whaddaya guys think of either?

Im thinking of some wheels from those guys. You don't want to have a wheel failure that leads to damage of the car or injury. Other than that, the economics of the wheels makes foolish not to give them a shot. That is, for half the price of a single OEM wheel you would have to break eight or nine of them to come out even on an OEM set. Anyone disagree?
