Default Why do I always get stuck behind this guy...

What an a-hole. An open back dump truck, full of dirt and rocks. He turned to get onto the interstate, and I was able to pass him. I could see the rocks bouncing on the road behind him...

I pulled a piece of metal out of one of my rear tires on friday... I was thinking.. that thing doesnt look like its too deep - YET - and I wiggled it, seemed ok so I kept going till it came out.. no leaks. I was doing a brake flush but feel happy I saw it....

there is no shortage of junk on the roads and those rock spitting, dirt clod rolling open trucks are BS...

seems when you go to pass one they hit a bridge expantion joint and it causes a small avalache right into you! I always back way off around any underpass or overpass as I know they have a rough spot and will cause the dreaded launch of debris

I think the dump truck drivers actually have a button they can push to annoy drivers behind them.

A gravel truck tilted his bed up on my Dad one day sprayed his car and eveyone elses on H-1 a long time ago. A week or so later the same thing happened clipped an over head hwy sign killing the driver. Job sucks for them especially if the company owner is skimping on maint.

Twice I've had truck tires blow in front of me with tire parts flying while on my bike. Either somebodies a lousy shot or retreads are lousy. Best to stay clear of trucks.

The worst I've had is a 4X4 appearing from under a car in front of me on the hwy then thump right under the wheels. Life is a drag some times.

In California , they would get a ticket for that. But I usually average one windshield a year on the work truck due to flying rocks. Wonder how much a new front windshield is on a 996 . Mine looks original and has alot of fine pits from what i imagine is due to blowing sand from the beach.

That sucks. I'd pass him as fast as I could, and if I got stopped I'd beef out the cop for not giving HIM a ticket (and I'd probably still get one anyway. Lol!). Still, I'd take it court cause I'd have been doing it for my safety.

I had a friend who was behind a cement truck, and a couple of the segmeted metal troughs that they hang on the back and side came off and beat the sh*t out of his car and almost came right thru the windshield and killed the passenger. The truck didn't even know and kept on going, and they had to pull over cause they could see for the smashed up windshield. Bunch of crap, that is.

The tire blowing is a real concern and everyday I see people just driving right along side big rigs. Its best to drive past them or stay behind them a safe distance. In Seattle where it rains a lot, the spray off the tires can limit visabillity as well, yet the scared driver won't pass, they stay in the worst possible spot - its amazing they are allowed to drive with those type of skills for comprehending a dangerous situation.

We also have a load tie down law, there have been several cases of injury or death due to items falling off trucks. There is even a hotline to call and narc on the violators - awe socialism does have its rewards

I think that here in Indiana, it is illegal for big commercial dump trucks to drive without a cover. There is a quarry fairly close to my house, and all the trucks that come out of that facility have covers over the cargo (thankfully). I would love to have seen this guy get a ticket...

I think German cars have windshields made of play-dough, they all seem to pit.
Seen it low mile cars just as bad as higher ones.

I was behind an uncovered truck carrying manure last week. On I-45 doing 70mph.

I wasn't driving my P-car.

Best one I like are the contractor vans/pickups with seventeen 20-foot ladders clamped on the top of them.

About three weeks ago I was working in Virginia and came upon an intersection. The other side of the traffic had a green light turning to red. A contractor van hit the brakes and a ladder came flying into the road. It would have hit me if I wouldn't have hesitated before the green light. Thankfully I was in a rental car but come on, it doesn't take that much of an effort to clamp those things down.

When I was younger, I purposely drive behind dump trucks....... it was my bosses car.
